Seven-card stud poker is a famous variation of poker usually played in online rooms, casinos and private poker rooms. Each player would receive seven cards (four cards face up and three facedown cards), but only choose five of them in creating a poker hand. Seven-card stud poker involves several betting rounds with different betting limits. The betting structure could be a spread limit (wherein the players could place a bet in the ‘allowable range’ such as from $1 to $10) and fixed limit (wherein players can bet on any of the two amounts (such as $1/$2) that has been decided before the game). All bets are placed only in specific times throughout the game.

Begin playing seven-card stud by placing an ante bet. All players that wishes to play in the round requires to place an ante bet before being given two cards down and one card up. The one with the lowest card shown needs to place another bet, then each player (going clockwise) should call or raise the bet if they want to stay in the hand. Anyone who doesn’t wish to make a bet can fold his cards.

Each player receives a fourth card face up and another betting round takes place. However, the person with the best hand shown would start the betting, placing at least the minimum allowed amount. The players are given a fifth card face up and bets would be placed again; this process is repeated until each player has seven cards. Although bets are placed after all players receive an extra card, the minimum bet usually increases to a higher amount after the players receive their 5th card.

After the last bets have been placed, all remaining players must reveal their hands and whoever has the highest-ranking hand wins the pot. The pot is split if two or more players have matching hands.
